How to Bond Someone Out of Marion County Jail

If someone has been arrested in Ocala or elsewhere in Marion County, start by confirming the booking and current bond status. Marion County publishes clear options for cash bonds, card-based cash bonds, and surety bonds through a bail agent.

The basic process

1

Confirm the booking

Use the Marion County Sheriff’s Office inmate-search page to confirm that the person is in custody and review the available booking information.

2

Review the bond amount and every charge

Write down each listed charge and bond amount. A separate hold, warrant or no-bond matter can affect release even when another charge is bondable.

3

Choose a bond option

MCSO lists three routes: full cash or certified bank check at the jail, an online/card cash-bond service, or a surety bond through a registered bail bond agent.

4

Allow time for release processing

MCSO says bonds are accepted 24 hours a day, but after a bond is received the release process can still take several hours because of required checks and release procedures.

Important: The bond cannot be posted until booking and identification processing are complete. Other holds or court restrictions may also affect whether the person can be released.

Marion County bond options

Full cash or certified bank check

MCSO says the full bond or purge amount may be paid at the Marion County Jail Information and Visitation Center with cash or a certified bank check payable to the Marion County Clerk of Courts.

Debit or credit card cash bond

MCSO also lists a separate online/card option for posting a cash bond. That service is not a bonding company and its fees are not set by the Sheriff’s Office.

Surety bond

MCSO says a bail bonding agent may be contacted to arrange a surety bond. The Sheriff’s Office does not recommend a specific agency.

Release timing

Once the bond is received, the jail still performs multiple checks before release. MCSO says that process can take several hours.
